The Cardiff Triathlon
In order to give the competitors and spectators the best and safest experience, we have been given permission to close the following roads between 06:00 and 10:30 on Sunday 28th June, and put in place alternative diversions:
- East Tyndall Street from its junction with Schooner Way to its junction with Herbert Street and Lloyd George Avenue
- Lloyd George Avenue from its junction with Herbert Street to its junction with Bute Place - Access out of Lloyd George Avenue properties will be maintained by Road Closure Stewards on the day of the event.
- Bute Place from its junction with Lloyd George Avenue to its junction with Pierhead Street.
- James Street, Clarence Road, Avondale Road and Ferry Road.
- International Drive to its junction with Olympian Way
- Olympian Way, Watkiss Way and left onto Dunleavy Drive from its junction with Watkiss Way to its junction with Dunleavy Drive Retail Park
Residents of the Channel View and S Clive Street area who need to get their cars out before the road re-opens are being encouraged to park in the IKEA car park overnight on Saturday. We are very grateful to IKEA for giving us this opportunity, but please note that cars are left at owners risk.
And the following roads from 06:00 until 15:00 on Sunday 28th June 2020, and put in place alternative diversions:
- East Tyndall Street from its junction with Schooner Way to its junction with Herbert Street and Lloyd George Avenue
- Lloyd George Avenue from its junction with Herbert Street to its junction with Bute Place
- Bute Place from its junction with Lloyd George Avenue to its junction with Pierhead Street.
- James Street, Clarence Road, Avondale Road and Ferry Road to its junction with Clive Street.
As such, there will be potential delays in these areas. Stewards will be on hand to guide and assist and, in the event of an emergency, will be able to escort vehicles in and out as and when appropriate.
Provisions for residents of Clarence Embankment, Pomeroy Street, Hamadryad Road, Clarence Place, Hunter Street, Burt Street, Burt Place, Harrowby Place, Harrowby Lane, Harrowby Street to get in and out of the closed area throughout the day will be put in place. You must strictly follow the stewards’ instructions.
As a Welsh company we are working closely with the local community to ensure as little disruption and inconvenience as possible, and we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding in helping to bring a Capital City Triathlon to Wales. Please come out to support the cyclists and runners as they pass and give them a huge Welsh welcome.
